Currently, the GSI has 7 full-time researchers (PhDs: 6 from the University of Valladolid, in its Valladolid and Segovia campuses and one from the University of Burgos) and 3 PhD students.

– Dr. Carlos J. Alonso González (Director)
Dr. Carlos J. Alonso-González is currently Associate Professor with the Departamento de Informática, Universidad de Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain, where he leads the Intelligent Systems Group (GSI). He has led several research projects in the fields of fault diagnosis and machine learning. He has co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. His current research interests include model-based reasoning, structural methods, Bayesian methods, machine learning and data mining, with applications to fault diagnosis and prognosis of complex dynamic systems, decision support systems, and bioinformatics.
– Dr. J. Belarmino Pulido Junquera
Belarmino Pulido (M’18) received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain, in 1992, 1995, and 2001, respectively. In 1994, he joined the Departamento de Informática, University of Valladolid, where he has been an Associate Professor, since 2002.
He does research in Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms and Computing in Engineering. His main research interests include model-based and knowledge-based reasoning, and their application to diagnosis and prognostics and health management.
He has worked in different national and European funded projects related to supervision and diagnosis, and he is the Spanish Network on Supervision and Diagnosis of Complex Systems Coordinator, since 2005.
He is currently working on several Big Data problems related to health monitoring and diagnosis of industrial systems and buildings energy efficiency. His recent project is ‘Intelligent Distributed Diagnosis And Prognostics For Hybrid Systems, IDEAPHYS’.
He has led 6 national/regional funded projects, has worked in other 16 projects (national, regional and European Networks of Excellence), has co-authored more than 30 journal papers, and 55 international and 24 national conference papers.
He has also worked as reviewer for different international journals and conferences.
– Dr. Aníbal Bregón Bregón
Dr. Anibal Bregon received his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Valladolid (Spain) in 2005, 2007 and 2010, respectively. He joined the Department of Computer Science at the University of Valladolid in 2011, where he is Associate Professor since February 2018. He has carried out both basic and applied research in the areas of fault diagnosis and prognosis for aerospace and industrial systems, has co-authored more than 80 journal and conference papers, and has participated on several funded projects, networks and contracts on fault diagnosis and prognosis topics, on Big Data analytics and on Deep Learning. He has been guest researcher with the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames Research Center and the Institute for Software Integrated Systems at Vanderbilt University, among others. His current research interests include model-based reasoning for diagnosis and prognosis, health-management, Big Data, Industry 4.0 and Deep Learning. Among various other professional activities, he has held different chair positions at the PHM and PHME conferences, has been IPC member of several conferences, such as DX and PHM, has been co-administrator of several courses and summer schools on diagnosis, prognosis, and artificial intelligence, and has been the Local Chair of the 2016 European Conference of the Prognostics and Health Management Society.
– Dr. Fernando Díaz Gómez
– Dr. Quiliano Isaac Moro Sancho
Quiliano Isaac Moro Sancho got his degree in Physics in 1989 and his PhD in 2000, both from the Universidad de Valladolid. Currently he is Associate Professor in the same university.
His current research lines are Machine-Learning, Temporal data-series and their applications in Big Data.
– Dr. M. Aránzazu Simón Hurtado
Arancha Simon-Hurtado obtained a degree in Physics (1989) and the PhD degree (2002), both from the University of Valladolid (Spain), where she is currently working as Lecturer.
She has published several papers in international journals and conferences. Her current research interests include, mainly, artificial intelligence applied to educational software, data mining, pattern recognition and biometrics.
